I wrote this song back in 2017 on my Full U.S. Tour. I was driving through the West Coast one morning and started messing with the song “Stone” by Paige Chaplin. Paige is a friend of mine, her music is beautiful and her voice reminds me of a modern Stevie Nicks.

I fixated on the word “darkness” and chopped the tune to make the verse and chorus. Transposed the chorus in different ways to make the intro and outro.

This song reminds me of a seance at night. 4am is known as “witching hour”, the time when witches perform these. Stevie Nicks was also considered a witch and so I think the title is fitting. Enjoy!
